day 19 – a song from your favorite album

i have quite a few albums that are high up on my list and it was hard for me to pick just one but i did it. i chose the album Mind, Body, Soul by Joss Stone. the album has a mix of songs and i love each and every one of them for different reasons. the song i chose to use for this post is Security and i chose that one because it's my favorite song [on my favorite album!].
i have never heard such a beautiful voice or song in my entire life. her voice is beautiful and raw and it really doesn't get much better than her. she has such a unique sound and i enjoy listening to her different octives in the different songs.
of course there isn't a video but i wanted everyone to hear the song incase they've never heard it before. :)

day 18 – a song that you wish you heard on the radio

man, i could pick SO many for this one .. there are TONS of songs i wish they'd play on the radio instead of what they play now! i chose this song because i've always loved it, from first listen. it's defintiely high up on the list of favorites. it reminds me of mine and adam's relationship when we first started. he was a little thuggish ruggish boy ;)
obviously, this wasn't a 'mainstream' song so there isn't a video - but i did find one that someone made?! haha

day 17 – a song that you hear often on the radio

love the way you lie - eminem ft rihanna
although i love(d) this song - it has been SO overplayed. EVERYTIME i'm in my car and have the radio on, it comes on. i hate when radio stations ruin a good song by playing the crap out of it!
this video is prettttty HOT!! it has megan fox [thumbs!] and dominic monaghan [he was in a recent favorite (sudden ending) show - flash forward!] so even though the radio has played out the song - the video somewhat makes up for it ;]

day 16 – a song that you used to love but now hate
FAIL!!!!!!!!!

so, i have thought and thought about this one and just can't think of a song that i once loved, but now hate. hate is a pretty strong word and it just doesn't exist in my musical vocab really.
so i decided to fail myself on this 'challenge' but replace day 16 with another.

easy. not only because i LOVE pink but just take a listen to this. how can you deny this? she almost sings this better than janis! [calm down, i said almost]

day fifteen

half-way! :)

day 15 – a song that describes you
this was one of the first 'days' that i didn't even have to think about what song songs i was going to use! yep, you read right - i am using TWO. only because i can't really pick between the two and i feel they both describe me.

the first is i'm not dead by p!nk.from the moment i first heard this song, i immediately fell in love and related. not only is p!nk my favorite singer, i can actually relate to A LOT of her songs but this one stood out. i think it's the line 'i'm not scared just changing'. it's a perfect line for me. i have been with my husband for the last eight years and no matter what we go through, at the end of it all the one thing that remains is us. throughout the eight years, both of us have changed, both drastically and subtly but regardless we still love each other and he is still my crack of sunlight.♥




the other song i chose is who i am by jessica andrews.i know there are tons of people that can surely relate to this song but it's another one that i heard one time and immediately changed the lyrics to 'i ammm clarissa's granddaughterrrrrr' .. hehe! i am a spitting image of my father and my mama is my biggest fan. i'm clueless and [definitely] clumsy .. but i've got friends that love me and that's who i am.
it's a feel-good song about knowing who you are and loving yourself regardless. and knowing that people love you, flaws and all.

i picked beautiful people by marilyn manson because i really don't think anyone would suspect me to be a manson fan. truth is, i am. i mean i'm not huge, die-hard fan or anything but i enjoy his songs.
it's funny .. i remember when he first came out and i was in private school - EVERYONE thought he was the anti-christ and he was some SUPER evil guy all because he wore makeup and dressed in a womans suit in a video. yeah, strange - but not evil.

day 13 – a song that is a guilty pleasure

guilty pleasure: something that you love to do, but you just cannot admit that you do it. [as defined by urban dictionary]

sooo. a song/band/artist that i love - but don't want to admit?! hm, i don't really know the answer to this because there really isn't one that i WON'T admit too? everyone knows i loves me some hanson, maroon5, anything 80s and yes, even justin beiber ... i mean there isn't much that i won't ADMIT too over here. i'm an open musical book! haha!
BUT - as always, for sake of answering .. i have one :)

day 12 – a song from a band you hate

this one is for my dad ;]

it was hard for me to pick a band i HATE ... and to be honest, even the band i chose - i wouldn't say that i HATE. i just HAAAAAAAAAAATED listening to it OVER and OVER again while my dad would drive me arond! and actually, this MAY have been before the times of CD players in cars - so he would rewind and replay this song over and over - or at least it seemed that way to me!!

HAHA!!! that STUPID song! it still haunts me! ;] it's actually not a BAD song but being that i was forced to listen to it so much - it bugs me!!!! i guess now i understand why you liked it though!!!

so, i was between robert cray band and rascall flatts for a band that i hate. i don't really know WHY i 'hate' rascall flatts though - they aren't AWFUL and i sometimes like their songs - but for some reason, they ANNOY me. since i at least had a REASON for my robert cray band annoyance - i went with them! ;]

day 11 – a song from your favorite band

favorite band, eh? well - i have paramore, sublime, dirty heads, hanson [of course] and maroon 5 ... so which one is THE favorite. definitely my girlllll - paramore :) although the others are definitely favorites - i can most relate to paramore [probably because she's a girl] ... so, for a song from them - i'll go with my favorite song from them - my heart ♥

i love how it starts off as a slow ballad but near the end, she really lets loose. the girl has an AMAZING voice and i don't think many people give credit where credit is due. this version is slightly different from the albumn one, but it is still amazing none the less!!

hm, i really don't know what song to pick for this because i don't really know a song that makes me fall asleep? that's actually kinda weird. haha! but, i guess i'd have to pick something slow - maybe like celine dion?! or perhaps a jewel song?
but, i guess for sake of answering this one - i'll pick

although - when the hook is in eminem's song 'stan' - it doesn't make me sleepy AT ALL! but, her solo song does sort of make me a little sleepy. it has the rain in the background and her soothing voice ... zzzz ;]

any time that song comes out while i'm out with my girls - we immediately grab each others hands and go straight to the dance floor and shake our little bootys! :) and i wouldn't even be surprised if we've gotten on stage with bands while they've sang said song and showed them how crazy we giLs really are ;] hehe!

gosh, just one? it's hard to pick just one because there are probably five thousand songs that i know EVERY word too! so how am i supposed to pick only one. i guess i'll go with the one that took me the longet and makes me most proud (haha) that i know all the words too ;]

this is another song me and christina used to listen to over and over trying to learn the words and thinking we were gangsta boos and it took a while - but i got every single word down on that song. and i still know all the words ;] although it's probably the most vulgar song that i know - i still enjoy pretending i'm gangsta and singing/rapping my little heart out! haha!

day seven

day 07 – a song that reminds you of a certain event

i wasn't too sure which song to pick for this one. actually, i wanted to keep up with these posts and do them while i was in connecticut but it was a little overwhelming with everything else going on so it got put on the back burner. so today, i have a full day of training here at work (UGH) so i was determined to get this done BEFORE then. so, i spent all morning thinking of which song i'd pick for this one.
since i already used purple rain [which reminds me of ocean city/purple moose] in a previous post, i decided to pick another song that reminds me of my love ♥
so i chose -

in 2002 - i was working up in bowie and some of my coworkers were going out to a place called jaspers after work for dinner. i decided that i would go with them and adam met me up there. after dinner, we were all hanging out - playing pool and dancing to the music on the jukebox when adam decided he wanted to pick some songs. i told him he had to dedicate one song to me ;] so, a few songs later ... 'is this love' came on. i was swaying and singing along when adam came over and whispered 'this is what i picked' :] we had only started dating a few months prior and hadn't said the L word yet. this was our first introduction! :] he definitely picked a good song and anytime i hear it - i'm always brought back to that night at jaspers!

day 06 – a song that reminds of you of somewhere

since made up song's probably don't count [and by this i am referring to the made up song my cousin and i made up YEARS ago while floating around in the lazy river of our condo in myrtle beach, sc] i will pick a REAL song. coincidently - this song reminds me of MYRTLE BEACH! if you couldn't tell ... me and MB have a very strong bond and MANY memories have been created there ['cute' boys, punkin, eminem CD, frieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeend, chris cheek, arcades, freaky tiki, getting engaged, getting MARRIED, quitting birth control, first family of 3 vacation ..].

so, naturally, i would pick a song that reminds me of there. the song?
under the bridge - red hot chili peppers!

this goes back MANY years - when vacationing there with my family and my aunt & uncle.
every year we have a 'beach' song - and we determine said song by the number of plays on the local radio station. this particular year - we must have heard that song 20 times per day. i'm pretty sure i learned all the words that week and i was maybe all of 10years old! i still love that song and anytime i hear it - i will announce [assuming i'm around family that was at the beach that week] - BEACH SONG :D

day 05 – a song that reminds you of someone

easy as pie. right?
i could pick a song that reminds me of each and every person in my life but we'd be here ALLLL day if i did that! haha!
but i'm actually going to pick one that stands out and not only reminds me of my girl christina but reminds me of one specific summer we had! ;] oh the adventures. anytime i hear this song - i automatically think of her, our friends and one tiny little apartment!
so without further ado -
perfect gentleman by wyclef jean :)

we both could sing this song word for word and i remember us in her little blue paseo - replaying it over and over and over again just to learn it :) and laughing hysterically at some of the translations we came out with!
actually - any song of that CD makes me think of her and our fun times but i chose that one because it was our favorite :)
even though a lot of those memories are hazy to me ... i can hear that song and instantly be taken back :)

day 04 – a song that makes you sad
who you'd be today by kenny chesney.

this one wasn't hard AT ALL. i can't listen to this song without shedding a tear - usually more than one. the first time i heard this song was after my friend dave died and of course it touched me. i was married and planning a family and unfortunately, he would never know any of that. the song says 'would you chase your dreams, settle down and start a family? i wonder what would you name your babies' - that's the line that always gets me. now that time has passed, the song hits home even more with a family member gone. it kills me to know that people that i love won't get to know me, my family or my child and even worse - they won't have one. but selfishly, you always think about what those people will miss in your life - but this song flips it some and makes you think about what else you will miss in their life, besides the person.
anyway - i don't want to go into depth on this one because who wants to be sad ... so, day four - complete.

day 03 – a song that makes you happy

here we have ANOTHER hard one for me. i have SOOOOOO many songs that make me happy in one way or another and that is because they are all tied to SO many good memories. it was hard for me to pick JUST one! i was 99% sure that my song choice for this category would be a sublime song because honestly, everyone of their songs make me happy. even still, it was gonna be hard to pick the ONE sublime song that always makes me happy. BUT - i've got it. and just to solidify my decision even MORE - it just so happened to start playing on my pandora radio AS i'm typing this blog! FATE! so, what is it? GET READY! :)

day 02 – your least favorite song

so, this is another hard one for me. there really isn't a song that sticks out that i DO NOT like but for sake of posting this blog - i do have an answer. that would be - 'family affair' by mary j blige. actually, i don't really like ANYTHING by miss [i-think-i'm-the-greatest-woman-to-ever-open-my-mouth-and-sing-a-song] blige. not only do i not get the lyrics to this song - what in the world is a 'dancery' anyway? please, tell me miss lyrical genious mary? but some of the words in this song are just reDONKuLOUS! hateration, holleration, perculation .. really??? i mean i like the concept of 'don't need no hateration' - but do you ever stop and think people are hating because of your attitude miss mary? you really AREN'T God's gift to music OR women for that matter!
ohhhh please forgive me - the point of this is not to go into a rant about how you don't like an ARTIST - just a song. so there ya have it. i know a lot of people like this song and don't get me wrong - if it comes on and i'm with my girls - i'm gonna shake my little booty but it's definitely not something i'd go and request or listen to on my own!

day 01 – your favorite song

wow. first of all, let me say that this entire '30 day project' is A LOT harder than i thought. i posted the challenge on wednesday and had honestly planned on posting day one THAT day but my mind was boggled. this continued wednesday night and all day yesterday. i've decided that i just HAVE to begin today. it is EXTREMELY hard for me to pick just ONE favorite song. like, seriously, don't even KNOW where to begin here. i have SO many 'favorites' and for SO many different reasons. the point of this challenge is probably to have fun with it - but of course, i find myself stressing because i know that as SOON as i hit the post button, i will think 'whyyyy did i choose that song - i totally forgot about this one'!

so, favorite song. favorite ALL TIME song? gosh. i try to think of a song that i've loved for years and has never gotten old to me (again, i know of more than one). so, during the past day and half that i've been pondering - one song remains constant. this would be 'purple rain' by prince. [any of my giLs surprised by this choice? haha]
i have loved purple rain from the moment these lobes heard that beautiful melody! i don't even KNOW why - it was just love at first hear. anytime it comes on, i immediately stop what i'm doing and belt out along with prince. i guess if i really want to dig deep, there is a line in the song that reminds me of a certain time in my life although i don't believe the song is MEANT like that. of course, everyone can have their own interpretation of the song but i think its about a guy and a girl - who have feelings for each other but the guy won't cross the line because the girl is with someone already and because of those circumstances - they couldn't even have a friendship.
none the less - i don't like this song based on meaning. i just absolutely LOVE it. i love to sing my little heart out at the top of my lungs and twist (because i won't say that i really DANCE) around like crazy - as if i'm in the recording studio singing it myself! ;]
i vow to one day sing this song on karaoke. in fact, every single time i go - i beg someone to sing it with me - but sadly, nobody knows it entirely like myself. one day, i'll be brave enough to do it alone! haha!

random fact - i've never even seen the movie "purple rain"
anyone seen it? should i watch the movie considering a song from the movie (right, it IS from the movie? is it based on the movie?) is my favorite song?! ;]
