local 4th of july fun!

the town over from us, La Plata, held a Fourth of July Watermelon Bash this year. it was free (including water, hotdogs & ice cream!) and had lots of water slide bounces, splash pads and even a fire truck spraying the kids! my kids had a BLAST! kullen really had a blast because his little bestie Richard was there! 
they literally played and laughed ALL day long! 
i hope they do it again next year! if you're local, it's definitely a fun-filled day for kids of all ages!

our fourth

happy 4th of july! :)

we had a great one this year!!! 

we spent the entire day at the pool with mimi and aunt mandee [as you can probably tell from rhys' red nose!]

then we cleaned up and got ready to head to the local baseball stadium to see the 

Southern Maryland Blue Crabs

after the game there was to be fireworks - only because the game was taking so long - they paused the game and did them at the top of the 8th. right when heather and i were waiting to take the boys onto the field for the tug of war contest. 

so, kullen and i were separate from rhys and dada for fireworks - which made me sad - but seeing kullens face light up for the fireworks made it a little better :)

we had a great fourth!

we spent saturday in mollusk, va

at our friend's lake house!

they had an amazing firework show

and kullen wasn't even scared!

he loved the sparklers! :)

on the 4th

we enjoyed crabs

and then went to our local fair grounds 

for some more fireworks!

kullen giggled the entire time

well, until the finale' 

then he got just a TAD freaked out by the length and noise

but was over it real quick!

he is still talking about 'woks'!

festive!!

i hope everyone has a happy 4th!

we're spending saturday with some of our best buds

celebrating a special little boy & seeing fireworks on sunday

and [possibly] indulging in the maryland tradition of crabs on monday!

i'm hoping for lots of fun in the sun

and a well-behaved little dude! [i won't hold my breath!]

as a 26yr old adult - i don't think i've ever dyed an easter egg!

[parents - correct me if i'm wrong!]

from memory, it wasn't a tradition on our house but i wanted it to become one for the Poags'! 

we got our kits and boiled our eggs and sat down thinking how perfect this would be. 

HA!

 and this is what our egg-dying adventure turned into. kullen squishing perfectly good eggs and playing in the dye [and spilling about 3 colors in the process!]

here's hoping next year is a little better!

at least we got some purdy eggs :)
