what's been going on!!

well, well, well .... it's been quite a while. i honestly don't have a super awesome excuse for my lack of blogging other than the obvious "i have three kids" thing. but, i often think "i should be blogging this..." or "this would make a good blog post". for some time now, i've wanted to get back to my roots of blogging ... you know, the every day life stuff. don't get me wrong, i love reviewing EVERYTHING and consider it one of my passions to try places/things and give my honest opinion about them, but frankly that isn't why i started blogging.

so, kaley .. why did you start blogging? i'm not sure that i ever addressed that question on here before. the short answer: i want my kids to have something to look back on after i'm gone. yah, yah .. morbid. i also want to have my piece of the internet. some people want to get buried when they die, you know ... claim that little plot of land, well .. i want my internet piece!

anyway - let's get caught up.

kaley:
still a SAHM! i've picked up a few new titles though ... Football and Baseball Team Mom and just recently Little League Board member! three days a week, i have about 2 hours to myself, it's been lovely! i typically spend those three days running errands or cleaning but occasionally (like today!) i find time to sit down at the computer or catch up on tv! i recently made myself every doctor/dental appointment that i could and aside from the typical vision getting worse and finding out that i have high blood pressure, i'm over all healthy! (and yes, you read it right ... 33 year old with high blood pressure! *insert eye roll*) all in all, not much new with me!

adam:
about the same update for him! nothing is ever new with us really! OH - well one thing did happen with Mr. Poag! he got the ole SNIP SNIP. which means the hopes of there every being a baby girl Poag is gone. (wahhhhh wahhh wahh!) He's still doing his electrician thing and lovin' it! recently his schedule is working long days Mon-Thurs but having off every Friday, which me and Bear just love!  last summer, adam built a shed for us - which was amazing. he's got so many house updates planned, hopefully i'll be blogging some of them!

kullen:
well, mr. 8 in a half year old, 3rd grader kullen! i don't even remember the last time that i blogged about him. probably when he got his tonsils out, which if i'm right, is still a draft post. HA! .. but, tonsils gone  - sleeps and talks a lot better with them out! he was also diagnosed with mild tourettes syndrome. he spent some time in occupational therapy but i really didn't feel it was doing what it needed, so we stopped. his tics were more verbal anyway. aside from that - he excelled in baseball last spring and is looking forward to this upcoming season! he also went all the way to states in football! we ended the season as #2 in the state of maryland for 8u! GO BLUE KNIGHTS!

rhys:
lets see, can't remember what i last talked about with rhys! he tested early into kindergarten last school year (which i'm not sure ever made to the blog) and is currently excelling in first grade. he just completed his destination imagination with his school and did really well (although complained most tuesdays when he had to go practice!) he also played tball last spring and his first year of football in the fall! he was one of the youngest on his team, and had adam as his coach!

bear:
oh my bear. currently FOUR years old and by far the funniest member of our family. seriously, there is NEVER a dull moment with him around! we decided to put him in a school program taught by local highschoolers (first flight) and he really enjoys it. he has made some new friends and seems to have won a few of the teachers over (always running to give them hugs!) despite his funny character, he is a true sweetheart.

we still have kazi (our cat!) who will turn FIFTEEN this April. woah.
we also had gotten a hamster two years ago but she only lasted about a year. she was a sweetheart and we're not sure what ever happened to her.
we recently got two guinea pigs from a friend of ours (heather!) ... a sweet mama and her baby. they boys love them and i've even seen adam petting/playing with them from time to time!

so, i guess that about sums it up!
believe me, i know that i am missing some key things that have happened over the years, hopefully i'll get to them eventually!
meanwhile, you can follow us on instagram, facebook or twitter for the every day happenin's of the rogue poags!

MIA: the poags

it feels like i haven't blogged in FOREVER! but believe me, it's not for lack of things going on over here!
we visited OBX from 08/30-9/6 which was a blast! i had both my mom and MIL with us - as well as most of my best friends - so it was an adventure, to say the least! our house was huge but filled with 14 adults, 8 kids and 1 dog! to say it was a vacation is funny - it was more hectic than a normal day at home. but it was SO worth it. my kids had a blast and the memories we all made will last forever!
once we got back - things shifted into full swing over here.
kullen back to school, rhys starting soccer, BEAR WALKING, adam softball twice a week PLUS hunting - it's crazy!
i need a vacation thinking about these next few weeks ;)
i know it's temporary but not having my husband home 4-5 nights a week is going to REALLY take a toll on me. wrangling these kids solo is hard work (rub a dub dub, three crazy poags in a tub ... ).
but - check out the monster hubby is hunting. i'm praying he gets him - plus 10 other does this season!!
we also have a special event on friday - the boys are going to FLIP. stay tuned for more on that! ;)
and saturday we are celebrating Mr. Rhys turning THREE. it's so hard for me to believe that he's going to be three. most people think he's already three (or even four) but to me, he's still the little monster baby he's always been. i'm starting to feel old over here!
speaking of - in addition to rhys' and bears birthdays - i'm also planning my 30th celebration! Luckily, my BFFs are helping out big time and i know it's going to be the best birthday bash ever! ;)

local 4th of july fun!

the town over from us, La Plata, held a Fourth of July Watermelon Bash this year. it was free (including water, hotdogs & ice cream!) and had lots of water slide bounces, splash pads and even a fire truck spraying the kids! my kids had a BLAST! kullen really had a blast because his little bestie Richard was there!
they literally played and laughed ALL day long!
i hope they do it again next year! if you're local, it's definitely a fun-filled day for kids of all ages!

weekend recap!

what an amazing weekend!
we were so busy but it was SO good!!! there are so many things i wish i had taken pictures of but i'm so bad about pictures, i get caught up in moments and just enjoying them sometimes (meaning, i don't have my phone in hand!) and sometimes that's a bad thing!

anyway - we spent wednesday, thursday and friday at the pool. wednesday our pool and a friends house after,  thursday at a friends house with tons of friends/babies and friday at our pool with mandee and ronin!
we may have spent too much time at the pool when kullen face is almost the same color as a target car and the 2 year old is voluntarily napping in a pool chair! ;)
saturday - hubby and i got up early and went to our local baseball stadium for the Hit & Run 5k! it was a blast, tough, but a blast!

after that, we headed to our friends sons 4th birthday party! it was so cute - goldfish themed!
kullen even got to ride a 4wheeler!

sunday morning was my friend katie's baby shower! such a cute nautical themed shower down by the water! can't wait to meet baby matthew!

after the shower, i came back home and prepared for an afternoon date with my hub!
we had a new babysitter come to the house and she was just great with the kids. it's basically the first time an almost stranger has watched our boys! we thought it would be nice to have someone else 'on call' just in case our family is sick of us asking ;)
and in true maryland form - what did we do on our date? had crabs! :D

June 28, 2014

southern maryland blue crabs!

we are so lucky to have a minor baseball team (& stadium) within 5 minutes of our house! my boys love baseball and it's nice to be able to take them on a whim!

getting a family picture is ridiculous these days. ;)
#twinning!
friends of ours are in a local band - Drivin' Muzzy. they were being featured in the magazine because they were playing a concert at the Blue Crabs Stadium that following weekend! with artists such as (local) Sam Grow as well as Josh Thompson and Frankie Ballard
